Inglewood Family Dental offers tooth extractions, wisdom tooth extractions, and soft tissue surgical procedures as a convenience of our patients.
There is no reason to be anxious about your procedure because we take great care to ensure patient comfort and peace of mind. To help our patients relax during their dental appointment, we offer inhaled nitrous oxide and oral sedation to help anxious patients relax during any and all procedures. It’s usually preferable to restore and save a damaged tooth. In some cases, however, the best option may be to remove the tooth—especially when the tooth is putting your oral health at risk.
There are two types of extractions: Simple extractions are performed when the majority of the tooth above the gum line is intact allowing the tooth to be extracted in one piece. If the tooth above the gum line is severely decayed, if it is fractured, or when the damage to the tooth extends below the gum line, a surgical extraction may be necessary.
The wisdom teeth are the last teeth to develop and when they try to erupt into the mouth sometimes there not enough room for them. When wisdom teeth try to erupt into a space that is too small, they can cause crowding among the surrounding teeth. When there is no space left for the wisdom teeth, they remain trapped in the gum or impacted under the gum line.
Impacted wisdom teeth can become very painful and may cause infection in the gum tissue. At Inglewood Family Dental, we recommend extracting impacted wisdom teeth around the ages 17 to 25.
At Inglewood Family Dental, we understand that wisdom teeth extractions can be an intimidating experience to face. We are pleased to offer a variety of sedation options to help ease your anxiety and keep you comfortable and relaxed throughout the wisdom teeth removal procedure.
